IT APPEARS THAT A/V MAY BE WORKING. I'M TRYING TO VERIFY THIS (2009-02-06 11:40am)
Some units that subscribe to server-based anti-virus may experience shut-down of anti-virus protection.
- The problem first appeard 2009-02-05 at noon.
- IBM top developers have been working on the issue since 11pm last night (note the delay).
- The scope of the problem is system wide, "affecting more than 8,000 units." (quote from IBM)
- Your unit may or may not show signs of the problem.
- There is nothing you can do to solve the problem.
- If emails appear to get stuck or are moving slowly through the system, you can turn off email-virus-scanning from the webconfig page -> email-settings-page. ***DOING SO TURNS OFF ANTI-VIRUS SCANNING, SO PROCEED WITH CAUTION*** (Please supress your laughter.... Since the virus scanner is not working anyway, there is no virus scanning. Yeah, we know.)
- Turning off virus scanning will speed up email through your system.
- If you turn virus scanning off, when the problem gets fixed, you will have to turn virus scanning on manually.
- If you do not turn off virus scanning, when the problem gets fixed, the system should reset itself.
- If you do not turn off virus scanning, and the problem gets fixed, and the system does not reset itself, we will post a message here on how to "reset" the anti-virus problem.
- We will post more information as it becomes available.
