If you have upgraded your Interjet through us and have chosen to swap one of our upgraded units for yours and would like to transfer the configuration and data over (of course you would), then this procedure should work fine for you. WE WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR MISCONFIGURATION OR OTHER PROBLEMS ARISING FROM MISPRINTS, OMISSIONS, OR ERRORS IN THIS PROCEDURE. FOLLOW THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! Now, with the disclaimer out there, we have never had any problems backing-up data from one unit and restoring to another:
Please read this entire procedure BEFORE beginning to make sure that there are no surprises as your follow along.
The basic concept of moving over data from one Interjet to another is simple. First setup the new unit with a basic configuration that makes it "visible" on your network. Next, disconnect your old Interjet from the Internet (to prevent it from accepting any new emails after it is backed-up). Back-up your old Interjet to a workstation on your internal network. Disconnect the old Interjet from your network and connect your new Interjet. Restore the back-up configuration and data file to your new Interjet. That is the basic procedure, the details follow:
I will make some basic assumptions about settings on your old Interjet, you may substitute your actual settings as appropriate. First I will assume that your Interjet's Internal IP address is the default of 192.168.1.1.
You will need to eventually set your new Interjet's IP address so that you
can restore to it. On your OLD interjet, log in and click on the SYSTEM
icon.
Then click on the NETWORK button 
at left of screen. This will show you the machines on your internal
network. The top section (there may be more than one network section)
lists the machines and their IP addresses. Typically there is the first
machine, your Interjet, at IP address 192.168.1.1 -- make note of your
Interjet's IP address. I will use 192.168.1.2 in this example.
Next click on the INFORMATION button 
at the left of the page. From here, your Interjet shows your its current
system information like amount of memory, time as well as current operating
system version.

The third item from the bottom of the list shows "VERSION: 3.2.1p14" or something similar. This is the current version of your operating system. As of this writing, the latest version of Whistleware for your Interjet is 3.2.1p16 . You will need to upgrade your system to this latest version so that the configuration transfer between machines works properly.
You can upgrade your operating system to 3.2.1p16 by following this
procedure: From the SYSTEM page (you should already be there), click on
the MAINTENANCE button 
at the left of the screen. Along the top of the maintenance page are four
tabs. Click on the UPGRADE tab 
.
There are two boxes you need to fill in:

Enter the information as above -- the ftp site with the os file 3.2.1p16 and the key of "justwhistle". Press the download button and your Interjet should connect to the internet and download this latest operating system version. It may take some time as the file is over 16 meg in size. A status window will appear to show you the download progress.
When the download is complete, click on the restart tab along the top
you will then see a page with something like the following:

Your current operating system may be different (here it is 3.2.1p14). Click on the radio button () next to version 3.2.1p16. Then press the restart button at top of page:
Your interjet will now reboot with the latest version of the operating system.
YOU ARE NOW READY TO BEGIN THE DATA AND CONFIGURATION TRANSFER. This procedure may take as long as 10 or 20 minutes. You should perform this procedure when there is little or no demand for your Interjet's services as YOUR INTERJET WILL NOT SERVICE ANY CLIENT REQUESTS AT THIS TIME. Your users will NOT be able to retrieve emails and during a portion of this procedure will not be able to access the internet. When you are ready to transfer over, proceed as follows:
First, disconnect your Interjet from the Internet. Either disconnect the peripheral network ethernet cable, or disconnect your telephone or ISDN line. You are doing this so that the Interjet cannot retrieve any new emails after the back-up has started. If we were to allow the Interjet to connect to the internet and retrieve emails, they would be lost! Keep your Interjet connected to your Internal network.
From your workstation, log into your old Interjet (if you have not already done so), and click on the SYSTEM icon. Next click on the MAINTENANCE button at the left. You will see the backup page. You will be backing the entire system (the second option -- at the bottom of the page). Read the notes (a similar copy is posted below):
Complete InterJet BackupNotes
- This process backs up all files and configuration data on the InterJet to your local computer.
- The backup file will be approximately 3 MB; your local computer must have enough disk space available.
- The InterJet shuts down all services during the backup process.
- You can restore the InterJet from this backup file only if the InterJet is running the same system version as it is now (3.2.1p16) or a later version.
- The System Agent's complete restore process is not compatible with Microsoft Internet Explorer. To restore the InterJet from a complete backup file, you must run WhistleWare in Netscape Navigator or use a third-party FTP client program (such as CuteFTP).
- Before you begin the backup process, make sure your Web browser's proxy server setting is disabled.
*** Note the comment about Microsoft Internet Explorer. Since these notes were created by Whistle several years ago, Microsoft IE was version 3.0. Microsoft released a patch to IE3.0 and all newer versions of IE support this backup procedure. If you are using IE 3.0, then it is time to upgrade.
Press the "back up entire system" button. Your web browser will pop-up a box asking you to save the back-up file to your workstation. Select a folder and remember this location.
When the backup is complete, go to your Interjet and shut it down from the front panel. To do so, select option # 4 and option #4. When the front panel says "SHUTDOWN" you man turn off the power by pressing the power switch on the rear of the unit.
At this point, connect your NEW Interjet in the exact same manner as you had your old unit connected. DO connect your Internet connection so that your new unit can retrieve emails. Press the power switch on the rear of the unit. When the unit powers up, it may show the whistle logo and the current time or it may ask for a series of numbers. Either way, press the "X" (cancel) key on the front of the unit and go to the network settings option #3. from there, enter the IP address of your old Interjet.
Back at your workstation, use your FTP program (one is included with windows and DOS based). From the command line interface, CD (change directory) until you are in the same directory/folder as the saved backup file from your OLD Interjet. At the Dos prompt type one of the following:
(note that I'm assuming that your Dos prompt looks like this C:\> ) Do not type in the items in burgundy color -- they are the responses the computer gives.

enter "admin" (without quotes) for the user name...

next type: put filename (where filename is the name of the Interjet backup file created before)

When the transfer is complete, the Interjet will automatically reboot with all system, and user settings restored.
Of course you may use another FTP program to put the backup-file onto the new Interjet. Just make sure that you put it in the "root" directory of the interjet. When you log in as admin with FTP, the interjet puts you in the root directory.
